Four Star Film-Discussion Series, a free community event, took place October 23-26, and November 14, 2024. Film-Discussion entries included Crash (10/23), Rosemary’s Baby (10/25), Blade Runner 2049 (10/26) and Barbie (11/14). Made possible thanks to support from Michigan Arts & Culture Council.
We need to talk about “Blade Runner 2049”! Thursday, Oct. 26, hear experts talk about artificial intelligence (A.I.) – then watch the critically-acclaimed film about a future with sentient machines.
We need to talk about “Rosemary’s Baby”! Wednesday, Oct. 25, take part in a discussion of the book “Monsters: A Fan’s Dilemma” – then watch the classic film by Roman Polanski, starring Mia Farrow.
Let’s talk about “Crash”! Monday, Oct. 23, see the award-winning movie then talk about its portrayal of modern racism with a panel that includes: Steff Rosalez, Brandon Copeland and Hwa-Jeen Na.
“I ROCK MY OWN: 2016” is the original portrait-series exploring and celebrating the cultural and historical significance of natural hair. A collaboration with several of West Michigan’s most talented photographers, “I ROCK MY OWN” events invite community members with natural hair to get a free, professional portrait they can use for anything. Holland Litho donates high-quality prints that debut at public events featuring local experts who can speak to the unique history of natural hair. Events made possible by Steelcase Foundation and Wege Foundation.
ArtPeers collaborated with tattoo artist Sarah Sun to create graphics that we projected onto buildings and the river, encouraging people to VOTE!
ArtPeers created a “Hero Photo Booth” as part of our free screening of the movie “Black Panther” at Four Star Theatre on Division and Burton in Grand Rapids, MI (USA).
