The Detroit-based “Moving24fps” project invited ArtPeers to participate in its debut project: Exec. Dir. Erin Wilson was paired with Bedford-Stuyvesant (Brooklyn, NYC) choreographer Johnnie Cruise Mercer, of The RED Project NYC. The pair were given 24 hours to create and complete an original dance film. Mercer brought Richmond (VA) dancer Shanice Mason; Wilson asked Detroit dancers Ryan Myers-Johnson and Rachael Ahn-Harbert to join in. Together, the five artists created “Pallas’ Warbler” from scratch in 24 hours time. This piece premiered the next day at Jam Handy (2900 E Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI) alongside works by other artists who were curated to create in pairs, in the pilot year of the “Moving24fps” project.
